Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has said that it has received 150 distressed Nigerians repatriated back to the country from the Republic of Chad.

Announcing their return on Wednesday morning, NEMA said that the returnees were assisted back to Nigeria in a voluntary repatriation exercise programme by the United Nations International Organisation for Migration (UN'IOM) on Tuesday.

The agency noted that “The flight Air Cargo with registration number SU- BUR landed at the Cargo Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja at about 2030 hours.

“The profiles of the Returnees indicated that 23 Males, 48 Females, 71 Children and 8 Infants arrived in Nigeria aboard the flight.

“Some of the Returnees demonstrated their joy for the success of their return back to Nigeria.”

However, NEMA did not provide details on why the returnees were repatriated from the Nigeria’s neighbouring country.

NEMA said that other agencies which were on ground to receive the returnees were the Nigerian Immigration Services, Nigeria Port Health Services, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Nigeria Refugee Commission.
