Jacob Alone was first arrested in 2020 for a case of rape/defilement of his daughter.

The police command in Edo State, south-south Nigeria says it has re-arrested a 58-year-old fugitive who escaped from Benin prison in 2020 during the #EndSARS protest.

The police on Tuesday said Jacob Alone was first arrested in 2020 for a case of rape/defilement of his daughter. According to the police, the daughter got pregnant following the abuse.

The police said Alone was charged but during his trial, the victim (Alone’s daughter) died in a motor accident while on her way to court to give evidence.

However, he was sentenced to 21 years imprisonment in Benin City, the Edo State capital, but he escaped through a jailbreak that occurred at the facility during the 2020 #ENDSARS protest.

On Tuesday, the police said, “Through intelligence gathering, the suspect was re-arrested.

“We are returning him to where he belongs because from information gathered about him, he is a very dangerous man to the society.”
