Nigerian Police Arrest Man For Defiling Nine-Year-Old Niece In Adamawa Two Weeks After Running Away

One Abdu Hamidu, 25, has been arrested by the police for defiling his elder brother's nine-year-old daughter in Adamawa State, SaharaReporters has learnt.

He was said to have repeatedly molested her the same day said to be April 20, 2024, and later fled. However, he was arrested on May 4, 2024, by the police.

 

The incident happened at Kwakwa village in the Hong Local Government Area of the state, according to the police.

 

The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed Hamidu's arrest to SaharaReporters on Tuesday, saying, "He fled for about two weeks after committing the crime."

 

"On 4/5/2024, the Command arrested one Abdu Hamidu, a 25-year-old resident of Kwakwa in Hong Local Government, for sexually assaulting his nine-year-old niece.

 

"The arrest followed a complaint made to the police at Kala'a Division by the father of the victim who happened to be a brother of the suspect.

 

"Investigation so far revealed that the suspect lured the victim into his room, away from the eyes of people and had carnal knowledge of her.

 

"The suspect will be charged to court after investigation," Nguroje said.
