Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Okonjo Iweala has resigned from the Obasanjo government. Her resignation resulted from what insiders referred to as “deep personal clashes between her and the president" that culminated in her removal as the head of the "Economic Management Team" while she was attending a conference in London.

Saharareporters had exclusively reported that Mrs. Iweala was demoted from the finance ministry to a less prestigous ministry of foreign affairs a few weeks ago.

Since her redeployment she has been throughly demystified and ridiculed by the government who once accused her of orchestrating a story about a financial scandal regarding payments to an offshore agency from her new ministry. Just few days ago she was removed unceremoniously from the headship of the "Economic Management Team" and asked to focus on the non-aligned movement.

No further information is available per the immediate reasons for her resignation today, sources disclosed that she her sent  resignation letter to the president. The president who had fallen out with her had expected her resignation since her abrupt move to the foreign ministry.

 More to come!
