Femi Fani-Kayode hurries out of US

January 12, 2007

Saharareporters, New York

Former chief propagandist to Obasanjo, Mr. Femi Fani –Kayode who had a disappointing media outing during his recent visits to the US to counter Atiku left for Nigeria earlier on Saturday from the Four Seasons Hotel where he camped at the Presidential Suite East Wing said to cost $4,000 per night, he left one day early under mysterious circumstances, when Saharareporters called the hotel, the telephone operator wasn’t sure why he checked out early, on transfer to his room the answering machine said the room was unoccupied.

Contrary to reports planted in the Nigerian media that Femi Fani-Kayode had a successful outing with the American media, no major news network heeded the invitation by the Nigerian embassy to cover Femi Fani-Kayode’s press conference and no reports exists in the US media about his purported briefing to Council of Foreign Relation (CFR) at the Ambassador’s residence hence his hurried departure from the US.

Meanwhile, Obasanjo has increased the retainership of GOODWORKS International, the lobby firm contracted permanently by the Obasanjo regime since 1999 to help launder his image. Goodworks International belongs to his friends and business partners, Mr. Andrew Young and Carl Masters. Saharareporters was reliably informed that apart from the monthly $60,000 fee paid to Andrew Young’s company for doing lobby work for the president, the company has recently been awarded the account of the “Heart of Africa” project running into millions of dollars. The company is also being paid $100,000 to help lobby world leaders for president Obasanjo’s nomination for the Nobel Prize in 2007, this is in addition to $60,000 paid each time the lobby firm engages in organizing special events for Nigeria such as the recent visit of Femi Fani-Kayode to Washington DC.

Goodworks International is also responsible for lifting crude oil on behalf of the Jamaica government from Nigeria on a daily basis, officially Nigeria allocates 30,000 barrels of oil to the tiny Island of Jamaica even though Jamaica does not own a refinery in their country to refine the crude oil.

Obasanjo seconds Uba Sanni to Yar’adua…

Special adviser on public affairs to President Obasanjo has been seconded to his puppet and PDP presidential candidate, Umar Yar’adua.  Sources in Aso Rock told Saharareporters earlier today that Obasanjo is very apprehensive about the way Uba Sanni and Akin Osuntokun managed his face off with his vice president, Abubakar Atiku.

According to our sources, Obasanjo has asked Uba Sanni to be ‘helping’ Umar Yar’adua for now, while Remi Oyo will take charge of regular media briefing on the local front.  In the meantime Femi Fani-Kayode has also been granted more responsibility to carry our propaganda work for the presidency as it pertains to the foreign media.
