Embattled Vice President of the federal republic of Nigeria departed the United States of America last night on his way to Abuja, Nigeria to resume back to his contentious number "2" position after a vacation at his palatial home in Potomac, Maryland. He departed via the Washington -Dulles International airport on the last British Airways flight accompanied by four of his aides at about 10:00PM last night.

Sources told Saharareporters that the VP was accompanied by Action Congress gubernatorial candidate of Anambra State, Dr. Chris Ngige, Professor Cyril Nwonwu a renowned Biochemist and Prof. Dean Duru.

Alhaji Abubakar Atiku is expected to spend a full day in the United Kingdom before flying directly to Abuja on a chartered jet which puts him in Nigeria on Sunday afternoon barring last minute changes. When Saharareporters called VP Atiku's house last night, an aide who answered the phone merely said: "He is gone" and wouldn't speak any further on his whereabouts.

Though our source said, VP Atiku was accorded skeletal diplomatic services by the Nigerian Embassy officials we could not independently confirm such as the embassy lines rang continuously without response.
