Orji Kalu flees after swearing –in Chief T.A Orji, 150 million bribe offered to secure bail

Shortly after swearing-in the new governor –elect of Abia State. Mr. Orji Kalu has left Nigeria in anticipation of early arrest by the EFCC, who had promised to arrest and prosecute him upon the expiration of his immunity.


 Governor Orji Kalu who had earlier bragged that he will not leave Nigeria before May 29 2007 fled after he had hurriedly sworn-in Chief Theodore Orji in Aba yesterday soon after Chief T.A Orji was granted bail by the Appeal Court.He will be the 3rd governor to flee since the beginning of the week. The details of the controversial bail has also emerged, our Saharareporters investigators can reveal that the bail was arranged by a former chief judge of the Federal High Court Babatunde Belgore who serves as a “consultant” to Orji Kalu. The sum of the bail bribe was put at N150 million an amount that was shared amongst judges of the Appeal Court said to be involved in working out the bail arrangement for Chief T.A Orji.

 

If T.A Orji swearing-in holds constitutionally, he will enjoy immunity from prosecution until his tenure expires or he is removed as the governor of Abia State.
