YAR'ADUA APPOINTS LAMORDE ACTING EFCC CHAIRMAN

January 10, 2008
A media advisory issued from the office of Yar'adua's special adviser on communications, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi stated that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu , whose controversial redeployment to attend a one-year course at NIPSS, Kuru -Jos will now be replaced by Ibrahim Lamorde, EFCC's Lagos-based Director of Operations.

The appointment of Ibrahim Lamorde, as the "Acting Chairman" seems to confirm Yar'adua's earlier position that Nuhu Ribadu will remain the EFCC chairman as the Nigerian public and Western nations kicked against the sidelining of Nuhu Ribadu.

PRESS RELEASE
Further to his approval of AIG Nuhu Ribadu's nomination for a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua has approved the appointment of Assistant Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Lamorde as acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

ACP Lamorde is currently the EFCC's Director of Operations.
