INSIDE TARABA-DANBABA: 1 YEAR AFTER

June 13, 2008
After listening to the full anniversary broadcast of DANBABA, we at INSIDE TARABA (IT) felt it will be proper for the regime to know what the ordinary TARABAN feels about the stewardship of the state in the first one year.

Most TARABANS feel that even though the Governor is quite humble, level headed and morally better than the former brigade commander, nothing has really change in the area of financial recklessness and looting of public funds.
Now let’s do a point by point analysis of the full text of the anniversary address as released by the press department of the Govt. House JALINGO;

•    In the first page, the Governor made mention of the fact that TARABANS gave them legitimacy willingly in May 2007, we think this is far from the truth as the Governor honestly knows the mandate given to him was obtained fraudulently. He was not even a lawfully and legally recognized candidate of the PDP. Well, we allow the courts to decide who actually the candidate was.
•    We commend the restructuring of the ministries from 20 to 12 and the creation of the 13th ministry mentioned on page 3, but it should not be used as tool to victimize some citizens of the state. And how much was spent on the reconstruction of ministries?
•    The effort towards equipping the law enforcement agencies too is commendable, but the Governor did not provide the total amount spent on all those armored vehicles, patrol vans etc. I.T. gathered that over 1billion was spent by the government on this.
•    We seriously condemned the purchase the madness exhibited in the purchase of vehicles for public officers. I.T. has nothing against the intent but the exorbitant rates at which those cars were bought are criminal. The Governor confirmed that on page 5 that the sum of #2.69BILLION was spent in less than 12 months on vehicle purchase and repairs. Haba! What happened to prioritization? Such monumental expenditure in a state without roads and other infrastructure? Also the Governor failed to give details of car type and quantity to avoid the embarrassment of knowing that he dashes cars like chewing gum. He also forgot to mention the 22 tractors (mostly refurbished) bought and supplied to the state at over #200million by the notorious GODWIN NYAME
•    How much was spent on the school projects and where exactly are they?
•    On page 8, the Governor made mention of the fact that his administration has committed another sum of #2.27BILLION to the completion of the jalingo airport phony project initiated by the former regime. What are TARABANS going to do with an airport now for GOD’S SAKE?  The last regime already paid the sum of 5billion for the heap of latrite called the airport. Also the sum of #150million paid for the stadium is outright stealing because the monies on the job had been fully paid by the last regime.
•    The Governor made mentioned of the ZING and JALINGO water projects, where is the water? Or is the money given to water vendors as loans?
•    Another contract sum of serious concern is that of the construction of KARIM LAMIDO and MARARRABA-BAISSA-ABONG roads. The Governor admitted that he awarded the contract for the whopping sum of #10.9BILLION. This is criminal, even JOLLY will salute this one. Julius Berger constructs a kilometer of road at the cost of #9million; the total distance of the two roads mentioned by DANBABA is 136kilometers, if one uses the JB rates it will amount to only #1.2billion. Where is the balance of over #9.6billion?
•    How could the government spend #1billion for the take off of a university without accreditation? The Governor carefully avoided details of the scope of work to conceal monumental corruption executed through TARCMA, e.g. the 200metre road in the school at the cost of #430million, renovation of flats at #8million each.
•    The Governor did not provide details of the operations of TARCMA, which now TARABANS renamed ‘TARABA AGENCY FOR RAW CORRUPTION AND MISAPPROPRIATION OF ASSETS’. The tales coming from this new swindle pipe are mind-boggling; an example is the expenses of over #300million on second hand equipments by ISA TAFIDA. Where is the due process?

This regime sings due process all the time while in the real sense, the collective resources of the state is looted as it were a year ago.
The only visible difference is maybe the absence of obscene sex orgies, parties and thuggery as exhibited by the former regime but the truth of the matter is TARABANS have more concern to be worried because even though DANBABA is  not a drunk like JOLLY, he is definitely not in control. The man is either suffering from legitimacy problems, extremely deceptive or out rightly criminal.
FACT SHEET:
•    At the beginning of this regime, TARMAC LTD (Yes, Lucky Omoluwa’s Company) was paid #1.3billion as another variation payment on the jalingo airport projects.
•    SPEED ENGINEERING was paid over #3billion for surface dressing of township roads.
•    The state government splashed and wasted hundreds of millions on the members of the state assembly by sponsoring a wasteful foreign trip for passing the budget. Why are they there in the first place?
•    How did the Governor acquire SUNTAI FARMS within a few months of assumption of office? The farm is now equipped with vehicles, trucks, bulldozers worth over #500million.
•    Prado jeeps were bought for over #9million each for LG chairmen and all members of the national assembly from Taraba state.
•    The new Deputy Governor’s residence was awarded to ALI SANI KONA at #135million and he was paid up front. Rumors have it that ALI SANI is the new DANLADI BAIDO of TARABA.
•    Renovation of family support centre was awarded at #120million
•    Supply of fertilizer for dry season farming to GODWIN NYAME at #400million.
•    Two day seminar for PERM.SECS to DANBABA’S friend at #48million
•    Direct labor water supply for JALINGO through CHARLES MIJINYAWA for #100million.
•    ZING camp variation payment to BONGOS at #350million
•    The release of #268million for 168 boreholes through fronts led by ISA TAFIDA.
•    The payment of #128million for computerization of salaries to a front of the Governor.
•    The release of #200million to TROMA as take off grant while the bill to set up the agency was still before the TRHA.
•    HILKIAH BUBA JODA, chairman of the primary education commission operates a DOLLAR account in a new generation bank running into over $200,000.00. Who really owns the money? We dare the Govt to deny this charge and I.T. will provide all the details to the court of public opinion.

So much for due process, one would say. This Governor publicly admitted receiving over #28billion in revenues in one year and also admitted on TV that he spent over #42billion in JUST ONE YEAR!

For the sake of God, please TARABANS, Look around the state and identify projects that justified this colossal amount.

Do not be fooled by the brand new 307 Taxi and buses meant to deceive and humiliate the intelligence of TARABANS.
TARABANS, WAKE UP!
