COURT GRANTS FANI KAYODE, BORISHADE BAIL

Relief came the way of two former ministers of aviation, Prof Babalola Borishade and Femi Fani Kayode as the magistrate court sitting in Abuja granted them bail on Monday.

Chief magistrate Lamido Mohammed Kabir, granted the bail application moved by lawyers to the former ministers on the condition that each accused persons provide N50million in bail bonds, and submit their international passports to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The judge also requested that their sureties must have landed properties at Maitama, Asokoro and Wuse 11 areas in Abuja with certification by the office of the Abuja Geographical Information System (AGIS).

The accused persons and their relatives who thronged the court premises had to wait till 6.00pm when Kabir finally gave an interim ruling granting them bail .The court adjourned till September 8th 2008 for further hearing of the case. 

Prof. Borishade who spoke with newsmen shortly after he was granted bail said that he did not misappropriate any money during his tenure as it was alleged by EFCC
