Bush: Farewell to legacy of ‘sorrow, tears and blood’

January 2, 2009
Last week I watched an interview by American television with Laura Bush – the wife of the outgoing American President, George Walker Bush. In the interview, First Lady Laura was trying to convince the world, that contrary to what critics are saying that her husband is the worst American President ever, Bush legacies according to her will be acknowledged after he might have left office. Whether the First Lady was talking to passive American citizens or addressing the world that is what I can’t tell. President Bush has spent his entire presidency jabbering about “the enemy” and mushroom clouds and evildoers, who according to him are threat to the American nation and its people. Even to his staunch supporters, like Big Tom, it is very hard and difficult for us to see anything good with the kind of leadership we saw in America in the last eight years, not after he might have left office but even in thousand years to come.

I want to remind First Lady Laura that as she spent 30 minutes in a TV studio trying to extol what she termed the many legacies of her husband, the venom he spit in the Middle East started manifesting, where with active connivance of her blood thirsty husband; innocent, armless Palestinians are murdered by powerful Zionist regime of Israel. It is quite unfortunate that we live in a so called free world where powerful nations do use their power unilaterally to invade and occupy sovereign nations on the pretext of fighting terrorisms.

No time in the history of Modern World, that innocent blood was shed, without discrimination to gender or age than the last eight years of Bush administration. His style of leadership saw the destruction of rule of law, democracy, social justice and respect for human right, which was the foundation upon which the American nation was laid. Bush invaded sovereign nations, called them rogues and alienated the US in the eyes of Muslims and the rest of the world.  He invented lies and on the basis of those lies invaded Iraq, under his command American soldiers committed all kinds of atrocities including the massacre in Haditha and the shameful event of Abu Ghuraib. It was also Bush that took innocent men and children, including journalists to Guantanamo and detained them for years without trial. This act undermines American claim of being a bastion of democracy, freedom, human rights and liberty.

Bush and the neo-cons – Cheney, Rumsfeld, Richard, Calucci, Wolforwitz, Perle, Bolton, Kristol and Khalilzad (all war mongers) believe that, it is only through war that the American supremacy can be expanded. For personal interest these people unilaterally drag the world into war in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan where over one million people lost their lives. They led unsuspecting Americans, in the name of protecting the American nation from terrorist, to senseless wars, which in essence was for them to get hold on Iraq’s oil, which their companies benefit from. They met and decided that for them to get hold of Iraq’s oil they have to invade Iraq and oust Saddam, who stood between them and cheap energy of that country. The war in Iraq was pre-planned before the September 11, 2001, attack. In fact, because of their key positions in the Department of Defense, the Neoconservatives were able to influence Bush administration policy on Iraq invasion.

Today, few days to inaugurating the new President elect Barrack Obama the world is far from being a better place. As I am talking to you, an all out war is going on in Palestine where we are witnessing the 20th century Holocaust – a victim turned oppressor. Even Iraq, where we are told the country is free from the clutches of a despot, the country was better of during Saddam than during the time of American imposed government of Nouri Elmaliky. Suicide bombing are now frequent, the country is divided along sectarian and tribal lines – Shiites against Sunnis, Kurdish against Arabs etc. In Afghanistan, where the Taliban were accused of violation of Human Rights, denying women rights and harbouring terrorists, today the country was better of during Taliban than what we see under American stooge, Hamid Karzai, of daily attacks on innocent civilians in Helmand region, Kandehar and Kabul. The US and NATO forces kill and maim innocent children and either pinned it on Taliban or claim that it was a mistake.

The world in the last sixty to seventy years has live under aggressive foreign policies and murderous tendencies of successive administrations of America. The US leadership has used its dreaded CIA to assassinate Presidents, staged coups in so many countries in Africa, South America, Asia and Middle East. They succeeded in destabilizing countries in Africa; Somalia, Uganda, Angola, Sudan, Algeria for instance, in Asia; Vietnam, Korea, Yemen, Iran, Afghanistan, Cambodia, in Latin America; Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Haiti, Guatemala, Panama. They supported rebel forces in so many countries, gave support to dictatorial regimes and armed them to deal with any resistance from their people.

But one thing is clear; the world has come to know that the US or its leadership led by the Neoconsertives cannot continue deceiving people forever. Thanks to the new media, the world has come to know what these people are, their evil agenda and the atrocities they committed in the name of mother America. Because of one person – Osama bn Laden as they told their people, they wrecked havoc all over the world, on their way killing innocent children, raping women, destroying cities thereby rendering millions homeless.

Bush has committed atrocities that make Hitler’s war a child’s play. Hitler was a man of God compared to Bush’s atrocities in just eight years. Bush is a disaster, an epidemic worse than malaria, HIV/AIDS, Avian Influenza put together. These diseases can only kill, on his part Bush killed, inflicted pains, and separated families, orphaned children and wrecked havoc, living behind memories of sorrow, tears and blood on his way. Obama, on January 20, is inheriting a myriad of problems, he has a long way to go and I don’t believe he can do anything, rather, may be, he can reduce the unnecessary tension created by Bush. But his actions or inactions in the current crises in Israel will determine which direction the world would take during his stewardship.
