IMPOSING PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE ON NIGERIANS

February 19, 2009
Nigerian has been short- changed by political parties whose aim is not for true democracy, but to imposed candidate upon the electorate, except Abiola who had the mandate of the  citizens of Nigeria. Abiola was a willing presidential candidate who campaign on the issues and policy effecting our Country.

In 2007, Yar'adua was drafted by Obasanjo and the inner cirle of the PDP to be the presidential candidate. In 1999, Obasanjo was drafted, after being released from prison to be the presidential candidate. Also in 1979, Shagari was drafted to be the presidential candidate, all these unwilling and reluctant candidates went on to  win and became our president and commande-in-chiefs.

This writer is very concern how Nigeria can be a change Nation and leadership, if the people are being denied their right to listen and question her presidential candidates to ascertain his or her vision and the direction which such candidate will take the country  should he or she win, is  not only a
disgrace but a rape upon our democracy.

The precedent is also adopted by the members of the Senate today, who received nominations from the president as ministers without port-folio assignments  and when  each of these men and women goes before the senate  they "BOW and GO." These  type of system  account for our unending corruption and mismanagement of the wealth of our Nation.

When political parties heavyweights  continue imposing  an unwilling bride to us -Nigerian as presidential candidates  on each election cirlce, I doubt that we can achieve a true  democracy and uproot  corruption from the society.
