Farida Waziri cries "I can't do more than I've done”.

February 23, 2009
The EFCC chairperson Waziri  is yet to disclose to Nigerians her achievements so far as the one who calls the shots as far as the anti-corruption war is concerned in Nigeria. Recently, there was a report by  Martha Eigbefoh of This Day news paper, where the EFCC madam was alleged to have expressed her disappointment over what she termed "the poor attendance of the south-west governors at the South-west launch of a pet program termed the Anti-Corruption Revolution (ANCOR)". This actually increased my appetite to keep reading and truly to my curiosity I found why Farida was ( maybe still) angry with the governors.

Quotes:-

"We are talking about corruption here; I think it is an event that should concern all Nigerians because we are all involved. We have all admitted that corruption is the problem of Nigeria. This goes to show the attitude of our politicians to an issue of this magnitude. If it were the launch of another issue; they will flood the place and donate money," dissecting the above quotes made by "madam" it will be established that the issue in context is far beyond just ATTENDANCE but has a lot to do with DONATION.

I think the EFCC chairperson by now, should know that even the governors know what she stands for  and no reasonable governor will gamble with the "little" they get from the federation account due to global financial crisis. . Come to think of it, madam did not plan her ANCOR jamboree perfectly. She did not bring into cognizance the political situations at the South-Western States before making the region as the target market for her product, ANCOR widely known to exist in name alone. Simple calculation shows that during the period of the Anti-corruption launching in the south-west, both governor Segun Oni of Ekiti State and Segun Agagu of Ondo State  ( now former governors) were preoccupied with how they would retain their grip to power as the " thief execu-thieves" of their states.  Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State could not have been aware of the ANCOR launch not to talk of attending or sending a representative because ever since he brokered the peace (temporary) deal between the former leader and his vice, he has been running errands for both men whom he (Oyinlola) considers his political mentors. Alao Akala of Oyo State who according to records, was forcefully retired from the Police Force, was also not in attendance because the crisis rocking the State are too many for him to handle. Lets not forget that ever since Adedibu Lamidi died, the special duty pot folio handled by the late APASE WAA of  PDP (Generalissimo of PDP), has now been added to the daily responsibility of the State Governor. Disputes between Olubadan and Alaafin and other "pressing issues" would not have allowed Akala to attend too. Most importantly, Alao Akala would be the last to take Farida Waziri seriously with her anti-corruption song because being a former police boss, Akala knows what madam can do. The elders say 'it's only a thief that can trace the foot print of another thief on the rock". Gbenga Daniel the  "Govern-In-All" of Ogun State is busy fighting all manner of wars against his real and perceived enemies  in the State. Impeachment War; Loyalty War; Cheftaincy War; Deputy-Gov-induced War; Senator Iyabo Bello WAr; Senator Ibikunle Amosu War; Speaker Bankole War; Dipo Dina war;  War-induced War; And we all know according to the bible that "No man that wareth entangles himself with carnal things". Last man standing..Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola is the only one who sent a proxy but probably did not send the proxy well.  We'll all agree that "sending" and "sending well" are two different things. While sending a proxy is just to represent the governor, sending a proxy-well means both representation and donation of  not just money but a lot of money.

The moral standing of this bogus launch is questionable to the last letter. The questions for madam here is that "why try to launch another ant-corruption pet program"?. We lack continuity in this country. I don't know why this woman has so decided not to continue from where Nuhu Ribadu was forced to stop. Change of name does not contribute anything to the fight against corruption. It is in this country National Electric Power Authority (N.E.P.A) was re-christianed Power Holding Company of Nigeria ( P.H.C.N) without any tangible improvement in the services provided for the masses except to make us pay for what we don't even enjoy. It is high time we told EFCC boss that moving from region to region in the name of anti-corruption crusade will not solve the problem.  if I may ask, how many anti-fake drug pet program did our one and only dearest Dora Akuyili launched before she achieved great success as the Director general of NAFDAC?...I think this woman needs to go to Nuhu Ribadu and seek for knowledge on how to combat corruption or better still, she may go to anty  Dora for lectures on how to function very effectively in a given pot folio. Complaining simply shows she lacks the energy and the will to find corruption in the way it should be fought. After all she retired as a senior police officer and was one time the head of the anti-fraud unit of the police force.

While reading through the said publication something caught my attention again. Waziri was said to have  condemned the practice of stashing away funds in foreign countries instead of investing them in the nation's economy to boost its growth. The above statement by implication means Governors and public officers are allowed to steal from the treasury only if they will invest such stolen money here in Nigeria to boost our economy. This corroborates why investigations have not commenced against Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State who recently boasted how he spends his "bribe money" by investing it in the lives of the people of  Anambra State. If truly EFCC is ready to fight corruption the way Nuhu Ribadu fought, that governor should be answering some questions by now. I think Farida does not see anything wrong in accepting bribe in as much as such monies are being spent here in Nigeria. What A shame!.. Nigerians should be ready to witness a new era of mega-looting of our treasury right from the federal level down to the local government level across the Nation.

I laughed when I read this quote

“I’ve been crying myself hoarse that the cases are being stalled in courts. They get lawyers, pay them heavily and use the slow judicial system to stall the cases."

can someone tell the EFCC chairperson to continue crying because Nigerians know that the tears (if any) are not shed for Nigeria as a country but for the fact the people are paying lawyers HEAVILY instead of paying her the way James Ibori, Lucky Igbinedion and co. did. The above statement shows she knows the people doing it but won't just go after them because they are part of the system that produced her to do their bidding.

I, and i know Nigerians are happy when they read the submittion of the toothless EFCC chairperson as quoted below:-

“Those who don't like my face will say that the EFCC is not working. I can't be the court and the EFCC. I ensure that witnesses go to court and exhibits are tendered. I can't do more than I've done”.

The issue at hand is not about the faceless face of Mrs Farida Waziri but about the reality on ground that no big fish has been caught since she threw her anti-corruption net into the ocean of mega corruption of Nigeria. Unlike her predecessor who was not only running after "Yahoo Yahoo boyz" but also made every serving government official to learn by heart that the fear of EFCC under Ribadu is the beginning of wisdom.

Lastly, to the President of the Federal republic of Nigeria here is Mrs. Farida waziri saying "I can't do more than I've done". A wise leader should know what this means.
