Professor Dora Akunyili´s Sermon On Sahara Reporters

September 12, 2009

I greet Dora Akunyili for having the civility to join honest Nigerians who ply SaharaReporters.com. These are the same gentlemen and women she had all along branded as damagers of Nigeria a la Diaspora people. But I’m afraid her sweet platitude to soft-land herself falls short. Sermonising her way towards the same hall of fame like Caucasian Mother Theresa of India and saint Mary at the same time wouldn’t help up Dora Akuyili´s tattered image in any way.

This self-serving tirade of hers splashed on SR is cutting no ice with adults. It’s not flying amid kids either.

Something keeps telling me that Dora´s attempt to clarify this issue and put the record straight is a sidekick. The real reason mightn’t be unconnected with the speculation making the rounds that the president is going to sack some ministers soon. Her posturing smacks of an attempt to give herself a clean bill of health. The curses she poured on SR as a gossip Media and all the whatnots may also be targeted to make the president happy and score her some marks. Yar´adua is a sworn enemy of SR and anything that would dent SR will please our president beyond joy. Why’s it just now after months of this incident’s occurrence that she has deemed it fit to catalogue her official dealings on SR, ending it with self-glory and apportioning herself the genuine McCoy General of incorruptibility. This kind of tall profile of stand-up woman would make any leader who buys in to her over-ambitious moves not to sack her from the impending layoff.

Separating herself from the corrupt and dirty old bastards she surrounds herself with wouldn’t be a cakewalk. She walked into this infamy with her eyes wide open. The day she agreed to serve in Yar´Adua´s rotten regime, Dora lost her adult-innocence. That’s the equivalent of losing one’s virginity.  It’s not too late for her to opt out and be re-socialised back to real world away from the stigma of Aso Rock and PDP sleazes. She needs to be re-branded away from Obasanjo and governor Gbenga Daniel oath-taking frenzy of the Nigerian political class.

Few days ago, the erstwhile senate kingpin Ken Nnamani wrote in on SR eulogising Gani. I said to myself, wow! That was hip! Since when have you seen a Nigerian senator whether extant or ex-senators write anything in the Media? In U.S.A. and most other countries, senators do write-ups in the Press on a daily basis. Other officeholders aside from parliamentarians in those countries write likewise. In light of this, you’d think that Nigerian senators and varying officeholders are functional illiterates or stark ones for that matter. How else could you explain their lack of written communication in press and social networks? I wish more of them could recognise that SR is the best next thing to happen to Nigeria and the very right place to be. Madam minister can’t throw dirt at SR that’d stick on it like glue. SR keeps making true believers out of unbelievers and doubting Thomases while Yar´adua´s regime keeps making backsliders. Forget about churches and mosques in Nigeria, they’re in no way near the converts SR churns on daily bases. Sahara Reporters worked hard for its credibility. Madam minister and her regime should move and shake a lot to re-do their long-lost decency. If those moving and shaking SR were deviants, corrupters and corruptees like Dora’s crew in Abuja, they’d have become rich overnight. SR would’ve become a moneybag if they’re such a ratbag Dora wants us to believe they’re. SR will be given all the money in Nigeria if it´d stop criticising Yar´adua and his PDP rest.

Is either she had been a good actress as NAFDAC linchpin or she’s derailed big time nowadays. When the late Adedibu of amala politics of infamy said Dora hustled him for ministerial position during Obasanjo´s regime, she denied it. Now we know better. No pious woman of decency would continue to serve in Yaradua´s regime with its sky-high corruption and absurdity without resigning her appointment. She should take a cue from the noble Ebitu Ukiwe of the Babaginda 2i/c and call it a day from the PDP den of killers and jackals.

The more she tries to make herself over as the walking United Nations of morality, the more she roll herself deep inside dirt. How could she explain her gung-ho announcement that Boko Harem ace should die because he killed? Where in modesty's name does such happen if not with those who have gone bananas but in a banana republic? If her assertion that those who killed need to die, then, we should give Dora Akuyili petrol and fire to go and burn houses of all arsonists. We should as well bring out the entire rapist from prison and ask the police to rape them.  If you must kill a killer, rape a raper and burn down the houses of arsonists. Information minister should now realised how weird her theory of killing a killer is when she mounted the world stage postulating middle ages mindset in contemporary internet age. Any country that kills its citizen howsoever what happened, without minding legality of law, is a Hitleristic regime. Yar´adua has come to Nazify Nigeria while pretending otherwise.

The real McCoy image Dora is cutting for herself on Sahara Reporters is not her station in life at the moment. She should look proper where she now belongs. Madam Information minister should leave her preachments of self-righteousness aside until her next pilgrimage to Rome, Greece or Israel. The God-character people like her accord themselves don’t fool Nigerians any longer. We now judge people by the contents of their characters and in this judgement, there’s no partiality on SR.
