Mr President should be tried for treason against the people of Nigeria

September 29, 2009

Image removed. In most parts of the world they obviously live in the year 2009; they are progressively taking advantage of the empowerment that developments in the sciences and technology to make life comfortable. Spurred by leadership that works, innovation has become the hallmark of daily existence; these highly motivated citizens put their minds to work.

In Nigeria you would be right to assume we are still in the dark ages, never mind infrastructural developments and the conveniences that suggest that we are on the same timeline with the rest of the world.   My apologies to Nigerians who’ve still got their hearts beating right and their minds doing sublime exploits for humanity but in many ramifications we are a people living very close to the “stone age” era when the difference between man and beast is very negligible.

Education they say is the basic value that differentiates man from an animal. Education refines the instinct. The value of education made it a possible to groan in anticipation in spite of the shabby contraption that brought Mr. President to power in 2007.  The fact that we were going to led by a “very educated president”  for the first time ever made us decide to watch “give him a chance” and fight another day; we assumed something good might just have been lurking around Olusegun Okikiola Aremu Obasonjo’s rude mess.

But, the incompetence of Alh. Umaru Musa Yar'Adua 2nd president of Nigeria ’s fourth republic is too hard to take. Since the Peoples Democtartic Party under the caprices of the infamous former president imposed this most ill-prepared, in-active man on Nigerians, our situation as degenerated to that of a people battered in every sense of the word, we are treated like animals, in fact Nigerian’s are no less than a living Zombie.

It would be a waste of space to catalogue the many treacheries of Mr Yar’ Adua; rather it would be comforting to bring the president to justice and try him for betraying Nigerians. Of course for act of treason. From all indications Mr. President does not want to free itself from the shackle of corrupt element that made his presidency possible through massive rigging and the worst electoral process in world history as attested to by international observers. He is a slave to the James Ibori’s of the universe and the gang  of corrupt former governors who come from all nook and crannies of Nigeria

Today, he tortures Nigerians more with an attorney general who seems to mistake the office of the chief law officer of the federation as an office to protect corrupt politicians and their lackeys. A man that is determined to frustrate a serious chance of bringing those who loot the country to book.  The Nigeria Liberty Forum and other well meaning Nigerian organisation’s in the United Kingdom continue to advance the cause of making the international community uncomfortable for the gang of thieves in power and thank goodness for alternative news platforms such as Sahara Reporters and other citizen bloggers’ we are no longer slaves to some of the Nigerian media owned by the evidently corrupt men and women in “inhuman skin”.

President Yar’ Adua swore to defend the people of Nigeria, protect us and also provide leadership and hope to a Nation that is desperately in need of hope; nation where despondency puts out the fire enterprise the eyes of the youths. No president in the history of Nigeria has brought the country more disgrace and international ridicule than Alh. Yar’ Adua’s presidency; we are now the butt of jokes in the international community.

While world leaders chose to meet in New York for the general assembly of the United Nations our own president must find refuge  in the confines of a Saudi Arabia hospital, hiding under the guise of “State Visit”. Our concerns about his health are genuine, we do not fault him for being sick but we fault him for insisting on doing a task a sick man should not do.

And in what seems like an intent to insult and mock our sensibilities, when serious Nations gathered in the Austrian city of Vienna for the 53rd Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in September 2009, Nigeria ’s President sent an “expert” in atomic energy in the person of his wife, Turai Yar'Adua.  Should we dare to question her incompetence in issues relating to “energy” after she has through various experiments with the local stoves and charcoals in Garama and Kankia towns both in Katsina state earned her the right to be a natural replacement for her husband?

It is a treasonable act for the president of a nation as blessed as Nigeria to put the interest of his wife above national interest, and it even becomes more laughable when you see the harsh realities of our challenges in the fact that the entire country is running on generator including the seat of government Aso Rock!

With Yar’ Adua’s incompetence one would imagine it is  the opposition’s opportunity to work around the clock for the people of Nigeria but alas we are not fairing any better.  Almost all other political parties have one link or the other or are tied to the apron strings of the Peoples Democratic Party, a party that as perpetuated so much evil on ordinary Nigerians.

The Action Congress cannot be described as the answer to kicking out the undemocratic PDP as torrents of anti democratic practices also reign in the AC. It is either a political god father is hand picking governorship candidates in states or imposing his will on the vast majority of party officials using the “point and kill pepper soup joint” method to dislodge opposition. Mention the All Nigeria’s Peoples Party, that party is everything but “all Nigeria ”. Its presidential candidate is on one side and other members are busy hobnobbing with a sedated president hoping to get a fair share of the loot in Aso Rock or at worst crumbles from the majestic table of “Mrs President”.

All hope must not be lost, 2011 is just some few minutes away, and it is either we all as one people come together and face that evil monster or we die together as a people. A simple trip to Togo not to mention Ghana will give you the true sense of how bad our situation is, and it is time we stopped lamenting, started organizing and act fast. Nigerian’s in Diaspora must take a closer interest in the state of affairs. We must and should get off the internet and the ever tiring “list serves” we need money, we need people, we need strategy to save our nation from the looming pit hole of hell.

That’s why suing Mr. President for treason is essential. Let’s assist in bringing people to justice and take our destiny into our hands by keeping them locked up in places where they can’t do much harm to the democratic processes. We should also not underestimate the evil machinations of desperate politicians who would prefer to invite their friend in the military to keep power in trust until they re group to suck us dry than to lose power in a democratic election.

It is our time to SAVE NIGERIA FROM SOME NIGERIANS. No one but us can and will save Nigeria .
