CISLAC and ZCC support the judgement on the Chief Bode George and his partners in corruption

October 25, 2009

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and Zero Corruption Coalition (ZCC) wish to express happiness over the judgement passed against Chief Bode George and his Co-partners in corruption.  This judgment came at the right time when corrupt public officers have continued to loot the nation’s resources without sympathy for the common persons in Nigeria.

The resources that are meant to help address poverty, unemployment, health, education and provide social amenities to Nigerians some few individuals have decided to corner the resources thereby putting many Nigerians in abject poverty and miserable living condition.

We hope that they would not only be jailed but all the stolen money shall be confiscated to channel them for an appropriate use for the benefit of Nigerians masses We also hope that this would not stop at Chief Bode George and his partners in looting but all other corrupt officers and non –officers involved in corruption in Nigeria shall not be spared and protected by the government.

We urge the government to also deal with other cases without compromise irrespective of their membership of the ruling party as we have noted attempts to protect some powerful characters in the current regime as evidenced through the action of the AGF.

We call on the Nigerian people to continue to resist all corrupt leaders including those who rig elections inoder to bring about sanity and the desired progress in our socio-economic and political aspects of our country.

We equally salute the courage of judge (s) that gave this ruling and urge other judges to show more effort to deal with corrupt leaders in Nigeria.
