Resign now to avert another political upheaval, COSEG urges Yar’ adua

December 3, 2009

As uncertainty continues to trail the health condition of president Umar Yar’ Adua, he has been advised to tender his resignation immediately since he could not discharge his duty as president of the federal republic of Nigeria in order to safe the nation from another unnecessary political imbroglio as witnessed in the June 1993 saga, when governance was at abeyance.

This submission was made by the Coalition of Oodua self determination groups (COSEG) in a press release signed by its Director of media and publicity, Mr. Gbenga Soloki disclosed that the continued absence of the President is impacting negatively on the country and her economy, which if not urgently arrested may be catastrophic  and destructive.

The group equally advised members of the federal Executive Council to also prevail on the president to resign, while describing those opposed to the idea as enemies of the Country, who are prepared to throw this Nation into Chaos.
According to COSEG “ from available information at our disposal revealed that the president’s  ailment may take him away between 6 and 8 weeks which invariably means governance will be on hold for the period , which does not augur well for the Country and the people”.

Also, the insistence of some members of the presidents kitchen cabinet for him to hold on to  power is a call to anarchy, which might still throw the Country into another political crisis.
