We are mourning failed leadership in Nigeria-Egalitarian Mission, Africa

December 30, 2009

72 hours ago we sent an irrevocable 72 hours Ultimatum to the Nigerian Federal Executive Council via the Secretary of the Government of Federation to demand for the situation (Proof of Life) of President Umoru Musa Yar’Adua. Within the 72 hours we have been inundated by genuine attentions and enquiries from foreign governments and organizations as well as their agencies on our demand.

We salute several civil societies and Nigerians at home and Diasporas whose devoted concerns overwhelmed us and reinforced our belief in Nigeria.

We are however disillusioned by the stoic apathy by the Federal Executive Council over our patriotic demand, which simply put is that we want “Proof of Life” (a term that negotiators use with kidnappers to ensure that hostages are alive) of President Yar’Adua of which the Federal Executive Council has woefully failed to produce, but we have since been fortified by the recent happenings in our polity that have deep constitutional and political implications.

These implications are of effect that President Yar’Adua is unavailable to perform his duties as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces and/or permanently incapacitated to perform his functions.

These therefore have necessitated and we have therefore resolved the immediate invocation of provisions of Section 145 and Section 144 of the 1999 Constitution respectively.

As we commence from this hour the morning of FAILED leadership in Nigeria, we unequivocally state that anything done contrary to the above provisions of the Constitution will be resisted and any attempt to break our ranks will only fan the amber of state of discord and disorder in Nigeria.

Thank you.
