After the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of Lawyers of Conscience held in Abuja to appraise the current State of the Nation and to guide Nigerians to the next line of action we made these resolutions and hereby issue the following press statements:
While congratulating Dr Goodluck Jonathan on his final emergence as the Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we happily wish to thank the courageous Nigerian masses and people of goodwill who came out to join us in demanding that the right thing should be done and that the path of constitutionalism should be followed in our country.

However, we would want to seize this opportunity to remind the Nigerian populace that even as we savour this triumph of the unshakable will of the people, that this is just the first phase of our march towards reclaiming our hijacked sovereignty to ensure that true federalism, justice, equity, freedom and good governance reign in Nigeria forever.

In view of the foregoing, we hereby urge the various civil society organizations, professional bodies, ethnic/cultural organizations, community-based organizations, religious bodies/organization, labour /trade  unions, social movements, students unions and political associations to continue to mobilize its members for our proposed major national protest and civil disobedience which will enable Nigerians take their destiny in their hands to usher in a new Nigeria based on justice, equity, freedom and constitutionalism.

Consequently, we insist that the members of Federal Executive Council (FEC) and National Assembly should depart from their anti-people and unconstitutional stands to immediately apply Sections 144 & 146 or 143 of the Constitution of Nigeria.

On the other hand, we call on the Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan to immediately probe and prosecute the former AGF - Mr. Michael Aondoakaa and dissolve the current greedy and impotent Federal Executive Council.

We also demand that immediate efforts should be made by the Goodluck Jonathan-led Federal Government to hasten/accelerate the on-going attempt by the so-called National Assembly at Constitutional and Electoral Reforms based on Uwais Committee’s recommendations to ensure that these reforms are concluded within the next six months.

Before our proposed national “March of the March” – the mother of all protests that will peak in Abuja, (at the Federal Secretariat, National Assembly and Courts in Abuja), we will as usual liaise with other affiliate member-organizations of Save Nigeria Group, to hold more sensitization rallies across the country to compliment the ones so far held in Abuja, Lagos and Asaba.

So, in addition to what we have so far  procured/purchased, we urge individuals and groups in Nigeria to continue to buy more pillows, mats, foams/bedding, food items, etc., they will use during our proposed national “March of the March” which will commence on a date to be announced soon.

In spite of the rumoured efforts by some members of the Federal Government to bribe the Labour and Student Union leaders with stolen billions of Naira so as to ensure that they do not join Nigerian masses in their struggle to recover their hijacked sovereignty, we urge them to resist such temptation/overture and rather mobilize their members to fully join the citizenry in this effort to save Nigeria from lawlessness and oppressive rulership.

More so, beside the over 3000 Lawyers who have since we issued our 31st January ultimatum joined the ranks of Lawyers of Conscience in our struggle for a better Nigerian Federation, we still call on other Lawyers in Nigeria, as supposed learned men/women and ministers in the temple of Justice, including the so-called Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) to come out now and fully join our struggle to show the light and guide Nigerians to the path of freedom, justice, true federalism, constitutionalism and development, for surely, this is the time to separate “Liars” from “Lawyers”, indeed to separate the “Senior Advocates of Naira (SAN) from Senior Advocates of Nigerians (SAN).

As we condemn the roles of the former AGF, Mr. Michael Aondoakaa and the Federal High Court, we commend the Nigerian Police/the Nigerian Army on the manner they have so far conducted themselves in the face of the current constitutional/leadership crises in the country, we therefore enjoin them to continue to support /protect the Nigerian masses as they organize and mobilize to take their destiny in their hands so as to entrench constitutionalism, democracy and good Governance in the country.

Moreover, we commend the freedom fighters of the Niger Delta and MEND for their patience with the sluggish implementation of the so-called Amnesty Programme of the Government and thus, call on the Federal Government and other institutions concerned to hasten/accelerate the correction of the aged-long injustices inflicted on the oil-bearing communities in Nigeria by implementing the salient recommendations of various committees that were set-up to look into the Niger Delta injustices as well as pass an Amnesty Act to give legal teeth to the Amnesty Programme and to protect all the Niger Delta freedom fighters that graciously surrendered their arms.

In the same vein,  we congratulate Governor Peter Obi on his re-election as the Governor of Anambra State in the just concluded fairly free and fair election as well as commend the Vice President - Jonathan Goodluck, Inspector General of Police- Ogbonna Onovo and other security agencies for the peaceful conduct of the election, just as we  condemn the INEC for the “Voters Register” problem they orchestrated in Anambra State and therefore call on the Jonathan-led Federal Government to immediately sack the Maurice Iwu-led INEC and constitute a new and more credible INEC.

In all, we call for the immediate inauguration of Dr. Jonathan Goodluck as the  Substantive President of the Federal Republic Nigeria, as well as demand for immediate Constitutional and Electoral Reforms based on Uwais Committee Recommendations as the minimum condition for the pacification of the assaulted/provoked Nigerian populace so as to avoid the imminent people’s revolt/revolution.

Goodluck  Nigerian people!
Goodluck  Democracy and Good Governance!
Let the welfare of the people be the paramounts law!
Aluta continue!

Signed
