March 20, 2010
A judge of the Court of Appeal, Calabar Division, Justice Jean Omokri died today in Calabar following a brief illness. Justice Omokri, who was described by family as a good christian, served on a number of recent electoral cases that were controversial.
They include the 2003 electoral petition cases in Abia State, which were all won by the People Democratic Party.  He was also on the panel that unseated former governor of Anambra State, Chris Ngige, and the contentious Election Appeal panel that nullified Andy Uba's claim to the governorship of that state.

Judge Omokri, who turned in January, is survived by his wife and children.
