As I woke up to this day October 19, 2010 morning, and looked back to that dark day in 1986 and to the bloody and unnecessary killing of fellow citizens on  Nigerians golden day independence anniversary on October 1st 2010, these are the questions and comparison that came to mind.
24 years after, who Killed Dele Giwa?

Who was the Commander –in-chief and Chief Security officer of the country when Dele Giwa was assassinated via parcel Bomb?
When the Bomb blast of October 1st 2010 reverberated in the nation’s capital Abuja who jumped on it that he has experience to tackle the security problem in the country?
When Giwa was killed October 19, 1986, the commander in-Chief General Ibrahim Babangida stayed another seven years in charge of the country and was unable to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

If the Commander–in-chief and de factor Chief Security officer-in-charge then General Babangida was unable to give us a clue of who killed a reputable journalist like Dele Giwa talk less of fish out those people who carried out the devilish act seven years after under a military regime that has unlimited power, how will he convince us that he will this time around be able to provide security for Nigerians, when the world is more sophisticated and in a democratic setting when there is limited power ascribed to the Commander in Chief?

As such Babangida in my personal opinion, do not have the capacity to rule this country in any form or shape period. My message to Babangida is please enjoy whatever you have gotten from all of us at the expense of the Nigerian people in your hill top mansion that remains the property of the Nigerian people and leave us alone. We are completely exhausted of your antics, even Diego Maradona retired and become coach when he could not carry himself to play football no more—please stay put at your mountain top house and coach those that want to be cheats, manipulators and evil genius like you.

We the main street Nigerians have moved on with our lives from all the pain and suffering you bequeathed on us. Although those things you left with us 17 years after is still hanging on our neck like sod of Damascus. We are yet to dig ourselves totally out of the hole you dug us into, but inshah Allah, we will be out of it soon, especially if you give us some breathing space to mourn the lost you caused us, rebuild the system you virtually destroyed and have a final closure to the despicable act of you on your on very people more than 17 years ago

I think it is absolutely stupid and unintelligent to repeat the same thing all over again with the same people and expect a different result—doing things differently from the failures of yesterday and doing it with a different type of leaders and mind set is the wise and common sense thing to do. When we talk about security of live and property IBB jump into it…I have experience, when Nigerians talk about democracy, IBB want the people’s vote—Do you IBB know any shame at all? What you deprived the Nigerian people when you had an opportunity, now you want to get it from Nigerians…what a senseless arrogance, untouchable and a sense of entitlement like you own us? IBB’s experience is extremely dangerous to men and women of Nigeria.

If you IBB are patriotic as you claim, it is time for you IBB to let it be and leave us Nigerians alone. We are tired of you. Man Up and Have a life. It is delusional for you IBB to think that you can come through the back door as the democratically elected President to do penance for all the atrocity you committed against a country and its people that have given so much to you. Penance begins when you come out and tell the truth about all the atrocity you committed against the Nigerian people during your regime as the Commander –in-Chief and ask for forgiveness.

“Murder may pass unpunished for a time, but tardy justice will overtake the crime.” John Dryden. When will we know the killers of Dele Giwa and so many of the unresolved cold blooded murders in our country? Will we ever know the truth and reason behind Giwa’s death? Will the family of Giwa, the journalism profession and the outer Nigerian community ever have a closure and bring justice to the very people who carried out that evil act on that fateful dark day on October 19, 1986? God if we the people cannot bring those people who put light under the hood and snuffed life out of others to justice, please bring the killers of Dele Giwa and killers of other innocent Nigerians to Justice so that their families and the Nigerian people can have a dignified closure.

Until the killers of Giwa are found the question will continue to be asked who killed Dele Giwa? God be with the ordinary Nigerians who have defied conventional wisdom and survived atrocities of our so called leaders for too long—Lord bring Succor to them.
