Atiku condoles Oshiomhole

Former Vice President and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has described the death of the wife of Edo State governor, Her Excellency Mrs Clara Oshiomhole as a big loss not only to the family but to the state and entire country.

In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, Atiku said “we cannot forget in a hurry how this woman stood as a solid pillar behind her husband, the Governor, through his days as a frontline labour activist and through the struggle to reclaim his mandate freely given to him by the good people of Edo State.”

He prayed  that God will give the governor, the children and the entire people of Edo state the fortitude to bearing the irreparable loss.

Lagos ACN Mourns Mrs. Oshiomhole

The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has sympathized with the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over the death of his loving wife and first lady of Edo State, Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole. The party urged Governor Oshionhole to bear his great loss with a spirit of equanimity as the death of his wife is not only a loss to Edo, State, the ACN but also the entire country.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Joe Igbokwe, the Party describes the late first lady of Edo State as a calm and reserved lady who has contributed immensely towards the development of Edo in the short period she has been the first lady of the state. The Party therefore prays God to grant the departed first lady of Edo State a peaceful repose while granting her husband the fortitude to bear the loss.

“For us in the ACN, the death of Mrs. Oshiomhole is a rude shock, coming when least expected such ugly news. For the entire people of Edo State, the death is a devastating development and to the comrade Governor, the death of his dear wife is a painful occurrence at this critical time in our nation’s history. We all knew and cherish Mrs. Oshiomhole through the unobtrusive and matured way she comported herself such that she never allowed her high office to force her to obstruct the great works her husband is doing to recover Edo State from long years of devastation.

“Mrs. Oshiomhole was an epitome of trained womanhood who was always there to compliment the works of her husband from the stormy days as the country’s topmost labour leader, through the murky waters of politics and further through the period of persecution which marked the fight for the recovery of her husband’s mandate and eventually to the glorious return of the stolen mandate. We note that Mrs. Oshiomhole, like other first ladies of our great Party, the ACN, had maintained a quiet and unobtrusive but very active presence as the first lady of Edo State and has avoided the prevalent urge in Nigeria to struggle for the limelight with her husband.

“As the first lady of Edo, Mrs. Oshiomhole ran the Health Foundation for Maternal and Child Care, which assisted tremendously in providing quality healthcare for children and pregnant women in Edo State. She dutifully complimented her husband as he embarks on the arduous task of restoring Edo to her lost glory.

“We mourn Mrs. Oshiomhole, a wonderful woman and firm believer in the ideals of progressive politics. We mourn with the Edo State chapter of the ACN, the government and the good people of Edo State at this sad moment. We pray that God should grand Mrs. Oshiomhole a sweet repose in heaven and grant her husband the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
