Men of of the Nigerian police claimed they foiled a bomb plot at the venue of Muhammad Buhari's rally in Katsina earlier today. Policemen protecting the venue of a massive rally in Buhari's home state of Katsina said they  detected and removed two bombs hidden a bag before the rally.

The bomb scare is coming on the heels of an unsuccessful attempt by the Goodluck Jonathan campaign to bribe the Emir of Katsina. Our source at the emir's palace disclosed that an advance team sent by Dalhatu Sarki Tafida and Isayat Balat, two senior campaign advisors to Mr. Jonathan, met with the Sarkin Katsina before a scheduled meeting between Jonathan and northern emirs as well as Islamic scholars in Kaduna. "The team offered some money in dollars,  but the Emir rejected the bribe," said the source.

The emir reportedly told Jonathan's emissaries that the People's Democratic Party (PDP) was buried with the late President Umaru Yar'adua in the ancient burial ground of the city of Katsina.

After the meeting in Kaduna with members of the National Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), each of the participants was reportedly offered N1 million ($7,000) for transportation back to their respective states.
