PDP Wins Eket Senate And Federal Constituency Seats

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the Eket Senate and House of Assembly seats in Saturday’s National Assembly elections according to the results released at the INEC office in Eket.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the Eket Senate and House of Assembly seats in Saturday’s National Assembly elections according to the results released at the INEC office in Eket.

The results declared however did not include some wards where hoodlums hijacked and made away with election materials in Ikot Abasi and Eastern Obollo local government areas

 Eket Federal Constituency consists of Eket, Esit Eket, Onna and Ibeno local government areas while Eket Senate District cuts across 12 local government areas in Southern Akwa Ibom.

Announcing the results, Returning Officer Mr Nwachukwu Anyim said that  Chief Mrs Helen Esuene, PDP candidate for Eket Senate won by scoring 208,197 out of 238,306 votes cast.

 Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) scored 14,476  ANPP 2,407, CPC 5,638, LP 823

“There were five parties that contested for the office ACN, 14,476, the ANPP 2407, the CPC 5,638, the LP, 823 the PDP, 208,197. Total number of votes cast 238,306.

“Total number of valid votes 238,306, total number of valid votes 231,541, rejected votes 6765.

Now from these results, I Nwachukwu Anyim hereby certify that I was the Returning Officer for the Eket Senatorial District elections held on the 9th day of April 2011 that the election was contested, that the candidates received the votes as I had earlier called out.

“And that Mrs Helen Esuene of the Peoples Democratic Party  (PDP) having satisfied the requirements of the law and haven scored the highest number of votes, is returned elected,” Anyim said

For the House of Representatives PDP scored 83,266 votes, AC  11,927 votes, ADC 203, ANPP 507, NTP, 148 votes.

“From the summary of the results we have a total number of registered voters standing at 188, 640. Now the Action Congress of Nigeria  the (ACN) scored a total of 11,927, the ADC scored a total of 203 votes, the ANPP scored a total of 507 votes the NTP scored a total of 148 votes and the PDP scored a total of 83,266 votes.

“By these results, I Nwachukwu Anyim thereby certify that I was the returning officer for Eket Federal Constituency Election held on the 9th day of April 2011, that  the election was contested, that the candidates scored the votes I had already mentioned.

“I therefore declare that Barrister Bassey Dan Abia, of the Peoples Democratic Party haven satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected” he declared.
