The new Returning Officer for the Anambra Central senatorial election, Prof. Charles Ezimone, on Monday declared that the election was inconclusive.

The returning officer, who replaced Mr. Alex Anene, said at a press conference in Awka that there would be a rerun in about seven wards spread across four local government areas before the announcement of a final result.

He said based on the collated results received so far, Prof. Dora Akunyili of the All Progressives Grand Alliance scored 66,273 while Dr. Chris Ngige of the Action Congress of Nigeria scored 65,576 votes.

The candidate of the Accord Party, Senator Annie Okonkwo, scored 19,999 votes to place third while the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Chief Ogugua Okoye came fourth with 18,531 votes.
