Boko Haram Attacks Jigawa Police Station, Guns Down Minor

Members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect on Tuesday night attacked Birniwa Police Station, in the Birniwa local government area in Jigawa State.

The militants numbered over 20, but Police Commissioner Hashim Argungu, who confirmed the attack, said that the group’s Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) failed to detonate, although one of the policemen received gunshot wounds and a minor was shot dead.

Birniwa local government area has a long stretch of boundary with Yobe State, which is another hub of the sect, in addition to Borno State.
