ASUU Suspends Strike-PREMIUM TIMES

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has suspended its work boycott over government's refusal to properly fund the university system in particular and the education sector in general. Lecturers are to resume work immediately.

A national officer as well as an official of the University of Uyo branch of the Union told Premium Times the decision to suspend the strike was taken this morning at a meeting at the University of Abuja.

The national leadership of the Union had taken the agreement with the Federal Government to branches nationwide. Some branches, we are told, voted against the suspension of the strike while majority voted in favour of the suspension of the strike.
