The centre where former street thugs are receiving vocational training is situated in the outskirts of Gombe township at a site named Malam Sidi. The center was thrown into confusion last night when the unknown men started shooting indiscriminately upon reaching the centre.

Several trainees were injured and rushed to undisclosed hospitals in the area. SaharaReporters could not get police authorities to comment on the incident, however Red Cross officials confirmed the attack.

Abubakar Gombe, secretary of Red Cross said they are now searching in bushes and other remote places looking for others who might be injured and that so far his search party has  rescued two more trainees. One has bullets wound on the hand while the other was shot on his chest. They are both hospitalized.

Only three weeks ago, about 1000 ‘Yankalare’ militants willingly renounced violence and were granted amnesty by Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, following which they were sent for vocational training.
