Gov. Jang’s Former Chief of Staff, Gyang Pwajok And Widow Of Slain Lawmaker Win Plateau Legislative Elections

The Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Gyang Pwajok, who once worked as Governor Jonah Gyang's Chief of Staff has won the Plateau North Senatorial by-election which became vacant following the death of Senator Dantong Gyang who was killed following gunmen attack on a funeral in July 2012.

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer Prof. Fatima Sawa of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi declared Mr. Pwajok winner in Jos.


According to the final results, Pwajok scored 195,349 votes to defeat his closest rival, Col. David Dungs (rtd) of the Democratic Peoples Party, who got 38,847 votes.

 Also, the wife of Gyang Fulani, the former Majority Leader of Plateau State House of Assembly who was slain on the same date as Senator Gyang, won his vacant seat.

Mrs. Kaneng Fulani scored 33,549 votes to defeat Bulus Bot of Democratic Peoples Party who got a measly 6,718 votes.
