The first match of group C at the ongoing African cup of nations has ended in a draw between defending champions Zambia and Ethiopia.

The game that started with the defending champions playing well soon changed course as the Ethiopians side began and aggressive play that overwhelmed the complacent Zambian side.

The first goal was scored by the Zambia's Mbesuna at the 45th minute, and the second goal was an equalizer by Ethiopian Gima Gebreyes at the 64th minute.

Match referee soon issued a yellow card to Stopilla Sunzu of Ethiopia at the 12th minute, and later red card was also issued  to the Ethiopian goalkeeper for hard tackle against an opponent.

Zambia committed 20 fouls while match data shows Ethiopia with 14 fouls.

The game ended 1 - 1 draw with the Ethiopian team struggling to the end with ten men.

Nigeria belongs in Group C features Nigeria, Ethiopia,  Burkina Faso and  Zambia.
 The Nigerian Super Eagles will be playings its match against the Burkinabe side at 7:00 PM South African time.
