Super Eagles coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, has raised alarm over plans by detractors of the team to pitch him against the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation and the President of the body, Alhaji Aminu Maigari.

Speaking from Abuja on Wednesday afternoon, Keshi said there was never a time he said the NFF was desperate to dispense with his services but only mentioned that they have issues to settle that have since been amicably resolved. “I wonder what people want to gain by saying I’m fighting the NFF, I’m at war with Alhaji Maigari, who in the first place found me worthy of employment as national team’s coach.  I am seizing this opportunity to beg all those who are desperate to return us to the dark days of football that Nigerians know better now and won’t allow it."

Eagles Spokesman, Ben Alaiya, said in a release that Keshi praised the leadership qualities of the Maigari-led board and called for total support to enable the board do more for Nigerian football. “I have never and will never fight my President, all I have asked for is support from him and am getting that over 100 per cent so let those wanting us to start a war leave us a alone," he said.
