While the 'Old' faction loyal to Bamanga Tukur yesterday denied the existence of any faction, the 'New' PDP today fired back and said that the faction has indeed come alive in Bayelsa.

Sahara Reporters gathered that the new faction comprises of supporters of former Gov. Sylva and others that have been marginalized by the Gov. Seriake Dickson administration in Bayelsa.

And perhaps to demonstrate its seriousness, the New PDP in the state demanded the suspension of the Samuel Inokoba-led State Working Committee (SWC).

It has also petitioned the National Working Committee of the PDP to approve the suspension of Inokoba; the Secretary, Keku Godpower; Publicity Secretary, Osom Makbere; among other officials.

The spokesman of the New PDP, Godwin Sidi, told reporters in Yenagoa that Inokoba and Godpower have absconded from office and are nowhere to be found.

Sidi, who is a former Youth Leader of PDP, South-South Zone, said that one of their grievances is that the chairman and the secretary were not competent to pilot the affairs of the party.

“We are demanding the suspension of the Samuel Inokoba-led State Working Committee of the PDP in Bayelsa State,” he stressed.  “We have suffered for the party. We have already written to the National Working Committee to approve their suspension.

Describing the situation of the Chairman and the Secretary and their unavailability, he stated, “They do not their work. Their offices are not functioning. We want the National Working Committee to approve their suspension. They are incompetent.”

Saying that “enough is enough”, he added that “the New PDP has come to correct the wrongs of the Old PDP”.

Deploying Bibilical images, he declared, “Let the old things pass away and new light shine over us.”

But the Publicity Secretary, Osom Makbere, said Sidi and other defectors in the New PDP were “inconsequential elements,” and that some of them, including Ineye Ingbaifegha, had since been suspended from the PDP.
