Briefing journalists Tuesday at PDP’s headquarters, Asaba, state chairman of the PDP, Mr. Peter Nwaoboshi, who defended the presence of soldiers, stated that their heavy presence pre-empted the alleged plans by the APC and the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) to maim, burn, kill, kidnap and destroy lives and property.

Questioning Mr. Emerhor to tell Nigerians where he got the ‘big security details’ around him, before, during and after the elections, Mr. Nwaoboshi threatened that since, Emerhor, the APC candidate, had decided to play a dirty politics, the PDP will not spare him, stressing that Nigeria belongs to everybody.

“In rejecting the election, the APC candidate, O’tega Emerhor said that the environment was militarized with road blocks where voters were intimidated to stay home. Let us examine the empirical validation of this unfounded allegation by using the results from his ward. Emerhor is from ward 3 (Evwreni), in Ughelli North local government are with a total registered voters of 6349 in that ward, his party scored 6033, PDP, scored 158 and DPP, 75 totaling 6266 votes cast. This represent about 98% of the registered voters, does this show that voters were intimidated to stay at home?”

He advised Emerhor to learn how to respect his elders, declaring that to insult the deputy governor of the state who is his elder and senior in everything in life is the height of irresponsibility.

“All good well-meaning Nigerians should condemn this irresponsibility, barbaric and outdated childish action of Emerhor,” he said.  “He can be assured that since he has decided to play dirty, PDP will not spare him. Nigeria belongs to us all.”

He advised Mr. Emerhor to stop heating up the political system and the candidate of the DPP, Mr. Ede Dafinone, to take a clue from his father who never took the Urhobos throughout his illustrious political life to the opposition.

Nwaoboshi also appealed to the security agents not to be deterred by the unguarded statements of “professional political failure and neophytes.”
