Called the ‘Southern Kaduna PDP Unity Forum,’ the group is allegedly being sponsored by Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero to redeem his dwindling image and that of his god-father, Vice President Namadi Sambo. The campaign is aimed at giving the impression that both men are in control and that all is well in the crisis-ridden Kaduna PDP. It is also aimed at limiting the chances of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Southern Kaduna.
A top Presidency source who has been monitoring the group’s endless struggle for political patronage in Abuja told SaharaReporters the group kick-started their attacks in an advertorial that appeared in Monday’s edition of THISDAY.
The group is being led by a close ally of Plateau State’s Governor Jonah Jang, Senator Haruna Aziz Zego; Ali Waziri, a Special Adviser to Governor Yero, is serving as its Secretary.
The forum said it accepted last December’s death of Governor Patrick Yakowa and pledged loyalty to his successor, Governor Yero, contrary to the recent statement of the Movement for the Emancipation of Nigeria. It said, “Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa of blessed memory won election with our overwhelming support but died and his deputy took over, it is an act of God which we cannot question. For the avoidance of doubt we shall continue to support Gov. Yero’s government, it is our government.”
Attacking Buhari, Atiku and G-7 governors, the hired machineries declared, “The polity is getting over-heated. The activities of the opposition and actions of the G-7 governors, former V.P. Atiku Abubakar and the so-called Baraje-led new PDP are pushing the nation to the brink of disaster. Regional sentiments, which usually and easily take religious dimension, are at an all-time high, especially in the North. It may get worse and the former CPC presidential candidate’s and some Northern elders insinuations in 2011 that Nigeria would be ungovernable if he failed to win the presidential election which resulted in the loss of many lives will be a child’s play in 2015. We could be faced with a chain of senseless crises. We therefore call on the Nigerian Government, security agencies, and international agencies including the ICC to be vigilant…”
