Management of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED) has agreed to reduce fees it suddenly increased after students rampaged yesterday, resisting the increase.

Students shut the school gates against academic activities yesterday and took to the streets to protest the fee hike.
They seized the Lagos-Badagry highway and caused traffic jam.

They said the management had tried to jerk up the fees in an earlier attempt in 2011 but failed when the student union body resisted it but now increased the fee again this year. Their complaints also included decayed college infrastructure, delayed results, poor compilation of results and inadequate ICT facility on campus.

Today the school management buckled by reducing fees for students in year 2 and 3 respectively, leaving the yfirst year students to pay the new fees.

The increment had jerked up all fees to N40,000 across board.

New reductions after the protest now stands at N30,000 ffor year 2 students while students in the third year as expected to pay N25,000.

Freshmen are still to pay the new N40,000 fee.

The college promised to respond to other complaints outlined by the protesting students in two weeks.
