There is an uneasy calm in Port Harcourt, capital city of Rivers State, a day after 300 youth stormed the Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and called for resignation of the branch Chairman, Chief Felix Obuah.

The young people, who traveled to the city in 50 buses, banged drums and danced most of Tuesday in the Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party along Aba Road.

The young people, said by witnesses to be loyalists of ex-millitant leader, Egberipapa, waved placards which read ''Felix Obuah Resign Now'', and ''Obuah, You have failed PDP in Rivers State.''

A source told Saharareporters, ''Why we are here is to occupy PDP secretariat and let Obuah know that we are not happy with his refusal to listen to advice. He with the other members of the state executive run the PDP as if its Grassroots Democratic Initiative. There is no GDI in Akuku Toru, Asari Toru and Degema, the three Kalabari areas of the state. It is only NDGG has been in existence since 2009 and that was the platform we have used for the election of President Goodluck Jonathan.''

The protestors wearing t-shirts with Kengema Unity Forum and Egberipapa Leadership Foundation insignia, were also critical of Supervising Minister of Education, Barrister Nyesom Wike claiming he's been using the GDI for his governorship ambitions.

In a related story, Rivers State political leaders from ten parties have also accused the state branches of the PDP and APC of causing violent outbreaks since last year.

At a meeting in at the Police Officers Mess in Port Harcourt they advised the new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Mr. Jonathan Ogunsakin, to check the excesses of the two parties.

The Police Commissioner, Ogunsakin, promised to ensure the safety of people and protect property in Rivers State.  He warned the political leaders, however, the ban on political rallies is still in force.

He added, "The need for these wide consultations and meetings is premised on my avowed resolve to implement the law and ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order in Rivers State."
