They are Nurudeen Yusuf Temilola (also known as Optimist), who is the President-elect; Adesanya Temidayo Joseph (the PRO-Elect); Adetunji Adetowo (the Welfare Director-Elect) and Adisa Idowu Ridwan (the Social Director–Elect). They are being detained at the Ojo Police Station.

Students of the institution who spoke to SaharaReporters said the four were elected in January but could not be inaugurated due to the tuition payment crisis that broke out just days after the election, leading to the institution being shut down.

Witnesses at the inauguration said the students were arrested by a team of Campus Marshals led by the Acting Chief Security Officer, Captain Adeyinka on the orders of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Obafunwa.

LASU was closed on January 23 as a result of the students protest, but was partially reopened on February 24 and is due to open fully on Monday, April 1.  That led the students to decide to inaugurate their democratically-elected leaders today, March 27.

Our sources say it was while the students were waiting at the venue of the inauguration to take their oath of office that the Campus Marshals swooped on them and whisked them off to the Police Station.

No explanation has been given by the university administration for the action.
