Ondo Police Parade Okada Union Chairman, 34 Others Over Cultism, Robbery, And Cyber Crime

Commissioner of Police in the State, Issac Eke, paraded the suspects before pressmen at the headquarters’ of the Command in Akure, the capital city, shortly after a briefing in his office.

Yesterday, the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) pubically paraded an alleged cultist and chairman of the Okada Riders’ Union in Ondo, Bayo Akinfemiwa, alongside 34 other suspected criminals who reportedly specialized in terrorizing the people of the state.

Mr. Eke said Akinfemiwa was arrested by his officers during a raid in Ondo and confessed to belong to the Eye Confraternity after interrogation, unleashing terror on the people of town without care.

He declared that the suspect had been on the ‘wanted list’ of the command, and was also the chairman of the Okada Riders’ Union in Ondo until his arrest.

According to the Commissioner, the suspect (Akinfemiwa) was arrested alongside 19 other suspected cultists belonging to both the Eye and Aye Confraternity, following a tip from members of the public.

The police gave the names of the other suspects: Kola Oluwatoyin, Samuel Ogunmemito, Ibrahim Azumi, Kole Oshodi, Ayodeji Akinloye, Damilola Akerele, Tope Ajiwole, Lekan Adinlewa, Olanrewaju Adejuyigbe, Ologunmeta Muyiwa, Akindeji Sesan, Opeyemi Omofidan, Ayanfe Owoloye, Adegoke Omolade, Adewole Kayode, Segun Olajide, Sunday Alewi,John Akintunde, and Omolade Adegoke. 

The suspects were arrested in Ondo, Akure, Owo, and Akungba Akoko community.

Eke said many of the suspects were terrorizing the people of the state and committed crimes ranging from rape, murder, robbery, and unleashing violence on some of the campuses in the state.

The command also paraded seven armed robbery suspects, two indian hemp dealers, and five cyber crime suspects.

Items recovered from them were: four locally-made pistols, one single barrel gun, two live cartridges, and five expanded cartridges. Four vehicles were also recovered from the robbery suspects.

Eke further reiterated his commitment to win the war against crime with the support of other sister security agencies in the state.
