William Pooley, the British nurse who was flown to the UK for treatment after having contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone, has announced his plans to return to Sierra Leone to help treat Ebola patients.

An article featured in The Daily Mail reveals that Pooley  is calling on wealthier countries to do more in helping Africa control the Ebola epidemic.

“It's a global problem and it needs global level leadership so Obama and Cameron... need to show some more leadership on this issue”, said Pooley.

Pooley was flown by a British air force jet to London last month for treatment at the Royal Free Hospital and has since made a full recovery.

The British nurse’s call for increased global action on controlling the Ebola crisis has been previously echoed by the World Health Organization (WHO), Doctors Without Borders and others.

To date over 250 health care workers have been infected with Ebola which is significantly slowing down efforts to control the spread of the disease in countries like Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea which were already experiencing severe shortages of medical workers.

The Ebola disease shows no signs of slowing down across West Africa with about 4200 persons infected and nearly 2300 deaths.
