The sacked Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi, has described the news of the dissolution of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party as unfortunate and shocking.

Alabi disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday in Akure, the state capital while reacting to a release issued and signed by the party’s national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, in Abuja.

He said the news was least expected because of  a lawsuit challenging the attempted dissolution  was pending at an FCT High Court in Abuja.

“At the last sitting of the court, it ordered that the status quo should be maintained pending the hearing and the resolution of the issues we raised. The Court said the executives should remain in office, and the case was adjourned to November 6th 2014.

“We were taken aback by this decision of the National Working Committee today (Sunday). My investigation revealed that the working committee is yet to  sit on the issue and that it was a directive by the National Chairman to implement a fiat which was carried out by National Publicity Secretary of the party”, he said.

Meanwhile, members of the party in the state have rejected the directive of the dissolution of its executive and described the action as “disappointing.”

A release issued by its State Director of Publicity, Ayo Fadaka, in Akure stated that such action shows a clear intention by those expected to safeguard the interest of the party as out rightly betraying and  beheading it.

Fadaka noted that the party rejected the dissolution and affirms its confidence in the executives starting from the ward to the state level.

“We also consider this action a disappointment, particularly in view of the fact that there is a subsisting Court order barring the NWC from taking this sort of action therefore we reject it and affirm our absolute confidence and support for the executives from the Ward to the State level.

“We want to remind Abuja that it is by choice that we are members of the party (PDP) and that the party is not a prison yard where we are inmates that are bereft of liberties and fundamental rights.”

“We also declare our defiance against this action and as such will continue to recognize and relate only with our executives at every level”.

He said the defection of the embattled governor of the state Olusegun Mimiko with his aliens has clearly shown that danger is currently looming urging PDP members in the state  to remain resolute and unperturbed over the crisis rocking the party.

“The prosecution of this action clearly and absolutely demonstrates that those who have elected on their own to serve the interest of Governor Mimiko as he decamps to our party have clearly sown a seed of discord that is most certain to germinate very quickly.

“We also call on the generality of members of the PDP in Ondo State to be firm and resolute in this period as we will jointly and collective determine, shape and reorder our political destiny”, he said.
SaharaReporters learnt that the NWC of the PDP decided to dissolve the state executives in order to create room for Governor Mimiko who decamped from the Labor Party (LP) to the PDP recently.
