No Indictment Of Killer Cop: Grand Jury Decision On Michael Brown Shooting

A Missouri prosecutor has returned a "no indictment" verdict against a police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri tonight. Police officer, Darren Wilson shot and killed a defenseless black  18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, MI

Brown was  fatally shot by Ferguson police officer, Darren Wilson, on August 9 after a scuffle in a police vehicle, setting off violent protests which resulted in the deployment of the Missouri’s National Guard to support police efforts in bringing rioters under control.

Missouri Governor, Jay Nixon, activated the National Guard in Ferguson last Monday in anticipation of violence on Ferguson’s streets in the event the grand jury decides not to indict officer Darren Wilson based on evidence presented by the prosecution and defense.

On Sunday, the private attorney representing Michael Brown’s family claimed that the grand jury process being used in Darren Wilson’s trial was unsual and unfair because the prosecuting attorney did not make a specific charge against officer Darren Wilson.

Benjamin Crump, the attorney who also represented Trayvon Martin’s family, criticized St. Louis County prosecuting attorney, Robert McCulloch, for not sticking to a specific set of charges and sentencing recommendations.

Meanwhile, a police shooting in Cleveland, Ohio resulted in the death of an African-American young boy after police responded to a 911 emergency call of a man wielding a gun on a playground.

Tamir Rice, 12, was fatally shot by police after allegedly failing to heed to responding officers’ calls to drop his toy gun.

Cleveland’s chief of police, Calvin Williams, has defended the conduct of the policeman who is said to have shot the black youngster for failing to drop a replica gun he thought was a real firearm.

Ohio State is one of several in the US where open display of a licensed firearm is permitted.
