Tottenham FC has revealed that Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor will miss today’s Europa league clash with Besiktas, after the player requested for permission to travel to his country of birth.
In a statement on their website, the North London club wrote: “We can confirm that Emmanuel Adebayor has been given permission to return home for personal reasons. This is a private matter and so we will not be providing any further comment," the release read.
The former Monaco striker’s sudden trip might be connected to the recent family troubles that have engulfed his family, which became public when the player’s sister told listeners of a popular Ghanaian radio station that Emmanuel has neglected his own mother even throwing the poor woman out of his house at a point.
In a rebuttal, the player said his his mum wants him dead and is also praying for his football career to end.
With this visit it is believed that the forward has finally listened numerous calls advising him to go and address the issues with his mum personally.
