Massive Crowd At Kick Off Of Buhari's Presidential Campaign In Port Harcourt

The presidential campaign of Muhammadu Buhari, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially kicked off today, 6th January, 2015, at the Adokiye Amasiemaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.[slideshow]37017[/slideshow]

In attendance were the Governor of Rivers State and Director General of the campaign, Rotimi Amaechi; Vice-Presidential candidate, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun; Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha; chairman of the APC, John Oyegun; speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; member of the House of Representatives, Abike Dabiri and other party leaders.

At the rally, the party flag was handed over to Dakuku Peterside as the governorship candidate of the party in Rivers State. The APC Chairman John Oyegun also took the opportunity to welcome Emmanuel Oma (former Commissioner for Works) and Lebor Kuku, as well as 1,000 PDP supporters from Ahoada West local government, to the APC.

In his remarks, Buhari urged Nigerians to collect their permanent voter cards, and wait patiently on Election Day to vote and defend their votes. Calling the situation of unemployment in the country “intolerable”, he also highlighted the fundamental issues of the campaign being “insecurity and the poor economy, being made worse by corruption.”

The campaign now moves on to Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
