The situation had created much tension amongst officials and supporters before it was contained by armed security personnel in the field.

During the campaign stop, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Bala Mohammed, was pelted with water when some group of young men stoned guests at the rostrum during the presidential campaign in the state.

According to the governor, who spoke out in an Saturday interview, those that organized the attack are Abuja-based politicians from Bauchi state.

The national chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Muazu, and the minister are from the state, as well as some other members of the National Assembly.

Though no one has been officially named, the governor could be referring to some of these people as sponsors of the attack.
