Ondo PDP Crisis: Jonathan In Close Door Meeting With Afenifere Leaders In Akure

President Goodluck Jonathan arrived Akure, the Ondo state capital today ahead of his presidential campaign in the state.

He is expected to campaign in the State tomorrow while the venue has been billed for the Democracy Park in Akure.

Already, heavy presence of Military officers have mounted all the roads leading to the venue of the campaign ahead of Wednesday.

Mr. Jonathan, whose chopper landed at the Akure Airport at exactly 5:20 pm, was in company of some National Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was received by the embattled governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko and other government officials in the state.

The President, after exchanging pleasantries at the Airport drove ina convoy and was accompanied by Governor Mimiko to the palace of the Deji of Akure Kingdom, where they were received by the Regent, Princess Adetutu Adesida.

A Saharareporters correspondent gathered that the President is now having a close door meeting with the National leader of the Afenifere, Reuben Fasonrati

A source in the meeting said the president is meeting the group's leaders to intervene in the crisis rocking the PDP in the state.

President Goodluck being the presidential candidate of the PDP has already lost his popularity with the electorate in Ondo state.

Others present at the meeting included Olu Falae, Ayo Adebanjo, Iyiola Omisore, Gbenga Daniel and Peter Obi.
