A group called the "National Consensus Movement" (NCM) has appealed to the National Council of State not to accept postponement of the general elections.

And tomorrow in Abuja, NCM has invited Nigerian youth groups to assemble at the Unity Fountain to appeal to President Goodluck Jonathan not to tamper with the schedule of the elections.

“The regime has failed in several attempt at tenure elongation because, Nigerians said a resounding NO,” it said in a statement.

“This regime has conceived a last ditch plan: Postponement of the election. This is to be formalized at the next NATIONAL COUNCIL OF STATE meeting holding tomorrow (Thursday 5th February).”

NCM pointed out that the electoral commission is “100% ready” to conduct the elections, contrary to the rumours.

The public gathering at which the youths will appeal to President Jonathan will commence at the Unity Fountain at 7.30a.m.

According to the NCM, the dress code for the event is “White & Green Top.”
