In an exclusive interview with the Deputy Superintendent of Police in Rivers State, Ahmad K. Muhammad, he confirmed social media reports of deaths, violence and chaos in Rivers.

The superintendent stated that he is “aware that two people have lost their lives in Eleme and Tai.”

DSP Muhammad also confirmed that two arrests have been made in connection with stolen ballot boxes.

In Baguna local government, there have been several unconfirmed reports regarding ballot papers being snatched, in particular from Ward 7 Unit 7.

In addition, unconfirmed reports suggest no elections took place in some parts of Eleme, an Ogoni LGA.

At 3.38pm, citizen reporters on the scene in Akuku Toru LGA (KULA) reported that there were no INEC officials and no accreditation happening on the ground.

Due to the electoral chaos and irregularities occurring in Rivers State, Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has called for a cancellation of today’s electoral results and a complete rerun in the state.
