The All Progressives Congress and its Peoples Democratic Party counterpart in Ondo state have engaged themselves in a war of attrition, with both parties raising allegations and counter allegations of plots to scuttle Saturday’s House of Assembly election.

While the APC accused the PDP of plotting to use militants to disrupt the coming House of Assembly elections in the state, the latter has responded by alleging that the APC was out to deceive the people in order to win the sympathies of voters.

The APC in a statement in Akure said the PDP-led government had imported militants to destabilize and scare away voters on Election Day.

The statement which was signed by its Publicity Secretary, Omo’oba Adesanya, said the party had uncovered the plot which was aimed at manipulating the April 11 election.

“We also have it on good authority that the Governor has been inviting all the INEC ad hoc staff (Presiding Officer who are majorly Youth Coppers) in all the 203 polling units in the State to meetings in Government House to induce them with money, so that the Rivers system of withholding result sheets could be adopted in the State,” the party also alleged.

But the PDP in the state has reacted to the allegations, saying they were frivolous and amounted to crying wolf.

The party’s Director of Publicity, Ayodele Fadaka, who spoke to our correspondent on the phone on Saturday, said APC knew they stood no chance in the coming election.

While stating that the allegations were false, Fadaka said the PDP paid little concerns about APC’s propaganda.
