“I Remain The Elected Deputy Governor Of Ondo State, As Mimiko Plans To Eliminate Me,” Ali Olanusi Tells SaharaReporters

“When my security aides could not withstand it anymore, they too shot into the air to scare away the thugs and they all ran into the factional PDP Secretariat built by Mimiko near to the roundabout. This is how we knew they were sponsored thugs by the party,” he told SaharaReporters.

The Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Ali Olanusi has said he remained the democratically elected “second citizen” of the state and nobody can impeach him from his office.

Olanusi said this during an exclusive interview with SaharaReporters in Akure, the State capital, shortly after his convoy was attacked by thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who went then pursued the convoy of the Deputy Governor.

SaharaReporters authoritatively gathered that the embattled Governor of the State, Olusegun Mimiko, sponsored the thugs to attack and fired at the vehicles of the Deputy Governor immediately as he entered into the town.

The Deputy Governor told SaharaReporters that he cant leave the position of the second citizen of the state until his tenure as the Deputy Governor of the State expired, adding that he still remains an elected government official.

“By the grace of the Almighty God, I am still the elected Deputy Governor of Ondo State and nothing has changed my role in the State”, he said.

Olanusi also accused the Governor and his cohorts of planning to “eliminate” him and some members of his family for defecting to the All Progressive Congress (APC) party few days before the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

He revealed that Governor Mimiko was the “real brain” behind the Saturday disruption of the State House of Assembly election in the State by sponsoring thugs who hijacked ballots boxes.

He added that the Governor also silenced security officers posted to monitored elections by bribing them and diverting election materials where the APC had majority supporters to repress the voters from the PDP.

Olanusi, whose recent defection to the APC had caused Mimiko a lot of embarrassment and diminishing popularity in Abuja, revealed that he would continue to serve his people who supported him into the position.

Olanusi disclosed that the thugs came out from the PDP Secretariat along the Fiwaseye roundabout, where his convey was stoned and fired at by thugs.

“As I was coming from my town (Supare Akoko), I received calls that some hoodlums had gathered along the streets of Akure and the State House waiting for my arrival to attack me.  Immediately I alerted my security details in convoy to be ready for the show of shame from the attackers.

“Truly, after the roundabout from Fiwasaye, some boys which were hoodlums carrying placards, threw stones at my convoy and broke one of the side mirror of my official vehicle and shot at us,” he said.

“When my security aides could not withstand it anymore, they too shot into the air to scare away the thugs and they all ran into the factional PDP Secretariat built by Mimiko near to the roundabout. This is how we knew they were sponsored thugs by the party,” he told SaharaReporters.
