The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has rejected the outcome of the House of Assembly election conducted last Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement released in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the party’s state chairman, Isaac Kekemeke, said the state voters had been shortchanged and their wishes subverted.

Mr. Kekemeke disclosed that the party would employ every lawful means to challenge the outcome of the election results in order to retrieve its stolen mandate. He insisted that the result of the election did not reflect the true wishes and aspirations of the people of the state.

Mr. Kekemeke accused Olusegun Mimiko of the state of introducing a new electoral phrase, “see and buy,” into the political lexicon of the state.

“Never in the history of Ondo State has any election been fraught with as much brigandage, armed thugs, open inducement of voters before and during the election at the gate of the Government House and the polling booth respectively, ballot snatching and snuffing, open and shameless bribing of local election officials and ad hoc staff of INEC, changing of election results, change of election venue and mass thumb printing, deliberate allocations of wrong ballot papers to constituencies to cause confusion and attendant announcement of fake results, neglect and non-use of card readers and many [other] breaches too numerous to mention,” he said.

Mr. Kekemeke assured that the party would expose to the world the charade that was done in the name of election in Ondo State.

The APC state chairman pledged that his party would continue to act in the best interest of the people and the state, even though the party was robbed of its mandates.

“In spite of the daylight robbery, and the subversion of their will, we thank the people of Ondo State for voting the APC during the March 28 2015 and the April 11 2015 elections. We assure that we shall at all times continue to act in the best interest of our dear state.

He said the struggle to deliver Ondo State from mis-governance, one-man rule, socio-economic and political oppression had begun, adding “we shall refuse to be discouraged.”
